In 2014, Footbridge was founded as a Christian non-profit that would connect people in need with those who care in the name of Jesus. We started with international medical mission trips and scholarships to qualified college students abroad. Little did we know that God would use those two initial ministry goals and expand them both exponentially.
When Covid temporarily closed doors on our international mission trips, local clinics, and even some of our students in Bible colleges, God opened the doors for Footbridge to design and purchase a dental x-ray trailer AND start our first child sponsorship program at Vogan Christian Academy in Togo, Africa. Only God could have seen the scope and growth of our non-profit through these past two years and we feel this upcoming year could be our most impactful year yet as a ministry.
As God continues to lead and bless, we have plans for the following in 2023: multiple local medical clinics (dental, hearing, and eye), two international medical mission trips, expand our child, vocational, and college student sponsorships, and potentially add a new elementary school sponsorship in a second country. We sense we are on the verge of something really BIG for God’s Kingdom in 2023.
Strategically we have always utilized volunteers for our clinics, medical mission trips, and other human resource needs within Footbridge. But as Footbridge has matured as an effective tool in God’s hands, operational costs necessary to keep us moving forward have naturally accrued. Normal expenses such as insurance, X-ray trailer maintenance, dental supplies, and storage costs must be met. Even more strategic is the focus of an administrator/bookkeeper to keep on top of the flow of donations, grants, and other resources in a professional manner.
This year alone we have overseen the flow of nearly $1,000,000 worth of resources both here and abroad to the glory of God! We coordinate in-kind donations and volunteers whenever possible to maximize our efficiencies and steward our resources well, but we need partners to join us in supporting the work that Footbridge does to keep us moving forward. We have calculated these “behind-the-scenes” operational costs to be $52,680 for 2023, which represents a mere 5.3% overhead burden on the ministry.
As we mature as an organization, we are looking for a small team of strategic financial partners to keep Footbridge on a healthy trajectory for the glory of God. We love connecting Christians in health care fields, and hundreds of giving families and individuals, to the work of God both here and around the world. Our prayer is always, “Your kingdom come, and Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven”!
